For those who enjoy catching their own dinner, the waters off Siesta Key are abundant. Fishing tackle is available for rent at Economy Tackle. In addition to surf fishing, one of the more popular locations is the walkway across the island's northern Siesta Drive bridge to Sarasota, as well as Country Park at the base of the island side of the bridge.

Love to be up-close and personal with your favorite MLB team? Central Florida is the place to be! Just across the bridge in Sarasota is the spring training home of the Baltimore Orioles, Ed Smith Stadium. The Pittsburgh Pirates make their spring home just a few miles up the road in Bradenton at McKechnie Field. A one-hour drive gets you to the Yankees' Steinbrenner Field (Tampa), the Phillies' Bright House Field (Clearwater), and the local favorite Rays' Charlotte Sports Park (Port Charlotte). And for members of Red Sox Nation, City of Palms Park in Ft. Myers is just 90 minutes away. Baseball heaven!
